Access Control
A multinational company has a significant theft of computer equipment. Investigations carried out by Private Security Agents lead to a complete assessment of security procedures within the Company’s multi-floor tenancy.
As a result of this several major flaws were unearthed.
The company had no control over the issue of access cards anywhere in their tenancies. This function was performed by a security guard at the front door.
No reliable records were held as to the names of card holders. This especially was the case of cleaners who were mainly foreign nationals.
Contractors could enter the tenancies at any time without due consideration for OH&S issues which could have had effects upon the client’s duty of care etc.
The current whole of building approach the security did not adequately address issues of compliance from Access Reporting Requirements of their parent company.
Reports of who had and who has access to certain key doors and areas of the tenancies could not be produced.
Our solution to the situation was to advise that they install an integrated Intruder Detection System and Access Control System.
We replaced all door control points within the Client's tenancies with the above equipment which they now complete and total control over via computer password protected software.
Contractors, including cleaning staff do not have uncontrolled access as was the case with the whole of building system as the cards are not programmed outside certain hours.
Property losses have been reduced significantly.
The end result is that they were able to retain the company property and reduced disruption to business due to equipment losses.
