 The cost of equipment has steadily reducing over the years.  The cost of good quality equipment will allow most owners to obtain a good quality Video Surveillance System. 

Digital Video Recorder

The advent of digital video recorders has revolutionised the way images are viewed, displayed and replayed.

Digital Video Recorders (DVR) allow normally up to 16 cameras to be recorded onto a computer hard drive.  The images are then treated as a computer file.  The images can be viewed on the DVR or if it is networked, can be viewed on other computers.  This means that the recorder could be located in another state if you have the right infrastructure. 

First Call Security currently have a number of our corporate clients who remotely access to their Interstate located Digital Video Recorders via  the company WAN or via the Internet.

The best thing is that there are no tapes.  Review is easy.  No swapping tapes in and out of a video tape recorder.  When you find the footage you are looking for, just burn it to CD or DVD and take the images elsewhere.  A typical DVR will record up to 1 or 2 months.  This can be extended with more hard drive space. 

Interface with Access Control and Intruder Detection Systems

The Access Control, Intruder Detection and CCTV Systems can be linked to provide facilities such as the automation of Pan Tilt Zoom Cameras. 

The cameras can be programmed to turn and view a location such as a door when triggered.  This could be someone attempting to enter your building for instance.
